The Republic of Cyprus is a country located on the island of Cyprus and has an area of 9 250 sq. Km.

As of 1 May 2004, citizens of the EU / EEA and Switzerland may work in Cyprus without restrictions. They must apply for a registration certificate to the Civil Registration and Migration Department as soon as they have been appointed, but in any event within four months of their arrival in Cyprus.
Once a person arrives in Cyprus, if he / she intends to stay and be employed, he / she must:
a) Apply for an Alien Registration Certificate (ARC) to the local Immigration Department of the Police. This application must be submitted before the expiration of the four-month period to the local Immigration Department of the Police (fines are imposed for non-observance of the time limit).
b) Apply for a social security number after securing an appointment in Cyprus.
The registration certificate is issued within six months.
In Cyprus, you can work freely without the need for a work permit. You can register with the employment office to get relevant information and guidance. The social security scheme in Cyprus is funded through contributions that are distributed between the worker, the employer and the state. The amount of the insurance contributions is: 6.8% on the employee's income, 6.8% at the expense of the employer and 4.3% is paid by the state. If you are a self-insured person, the amount of the contributions is: 12.6% of the income is paid by a self-insured person and 4.3% by the state.

For taxes, you should refer to the Internal Revenue Department to get a taxpayer identification code in Cyprus. To do so, you must present a passport or ID card and fill in the I.R. 163A.
Under the Taxation of Individuals Act, you will be taxed in Cyprus if you reside in the country for more than 183 days a year. Taxes are deducted monthly from salary. The tax rate for individuals varies between 0% for income to € 19,500 per year and 30% for over € 36,300 per year.
The possibility of finding a home in Cyprus is good - it is possible to rent both apartments, houses and villas. Rents vary considerably depending on the location and condition of the dwelling.
