Our client is a modern 154-room hotel located in the beautiful Lofoten archipelago. The hotel offers a restaurant serving high-quality French-Nordic cuisine, a bar, and versatile event spaces for meetings and celebrations. Opened in May 2023, the hotel features a modern kitchen equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and an international team of seven chefs led by a Norwegian head chef.

  • Job requirements
    • EU passport or valid work authorization for Norway

    • Relevant experience in a similar role (breakfast cook or chef in a hotel/restaurant)

    • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

    • Team-oriented, reliable, and organized

    • Willingness to commit to the full contract period

  • Language
    • Good English communication skills (Norwegian is an advantage)
  • Responsibilities
    • Preparing and presenting cold food trays for the breakfast buffet

    • Cooking hot breakfast items such as eggs, omelets, sausages, and bacon

    • Preparing snacks and light meals for conference guests (e.g., sandwiches, focaccia, croissants, fruit baskets, smoothies, yogurt shots)

    • Preparing hot meals for hotel staff lunch

    • Ensuring cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen

    • Working shifts primarily from 05:30 – 13:00 or 06:00 – 13:30 on weekends

  • Remuneration
    • Hourly wage: NOK 240/hour (gross)

    • Pay Date: 12th of each month, based on the previous calendar month

    • Overtime: Paid at +40% for extra hours beyond 9 hours/day or 38 hours/week

    • Holiday Pay: +10.2% of gross salary, paid the following year

    • Additional pension contributions: +2% of gross salary

    • Red bank holiday pay: +100% of normal salary

    • Tips: Shared among restaurant and kitchen staff

    • Uniform: Provided (chef jacket and trousers); employees should bring their own work shoes or use the hotel's support

    • Accommodation: Nearby housing with a private room, shared kitchen, and bathroom – NOK 3,500/month (includes electricity and WiFi)

    • Meals: Optional hotel canteen meals available at NOK 36.54 per meal

    • Travel Expenses: The candidate is responsible for their own transportation to Norway; assistance in planning cost-effective travel is available

    • Insurance & Social Security:

    • Covered by Norwegian Social Security during the contract period

    • Additional work injury insurance included

    • Workers are advised to have travel insurance for the travel period

    • A valid European Health Card is recommended

    Contract Terms

    • Probation Period: 1 month (14-day notice period during probation)
    • Notice Period: 1 month at the end of a full calendar month
    • Work Schedule: 7.5-hour shifts per day + 30-minute unpaid break
    • Fixed-term contract based on operational and seasonal needs, with the possibility of a permanent position
